Sustainable Activities
Sustainable Activities
We engage in sustainable activities based on the Human Friendly concept.
We strive to resolve social issues through collaboration and co-creation with partner companies,
activities that leverage our unique technologies, and products and services that are kind to people, society, and the Earth.
01Collaboration with partners
Connecting textile production areas
We use our L∞PLUS (Looplus) upcycling system as a platform for our recycling initiatives that link textile production areas.
Through this system, we encourage the use of sustainable materials in all textile production areas and create a network of production areas that allows us to roll out manufacturing operations based on new concepts.
We will continue to improve L∞PLUS as an upcycling system through which new products and activities are created based on existing concepts such as our trial program in which we upcycle scrap materials collected from the Imabari Towel Industrial Association and supply raw yarn to the Nara Hosiery Industry Cooperative Union, which uses it to create products such as Nara socks upcycled from the off-cuts in Imabari towel production areas.

JSFA Membership
Kurabo became an official member of the Japan Sustainable Fashion Alliance (JSFA) that was established in August 2021 to promote a shift to sustainability in the fashion industry. As of April 2022, 42 fashion and textile companies have joined the JSFA, and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of the Environment, and Consumer Affairs Agency have become public partners.
With the aim of assessing the impacts of the fashion industry on the natural environment and society, jointly discovering solutions to issues common to the fashion and textile industries, and promoting a shift to sustainability in the fashion industry, the JSFA has proposed targets for 2050 that include achieving carbon neutrality and eliminating fashion waste through appropriate production, purchase, and recycling.

02Green production activities
For example, the Tokushima Plant that dyes and processes materials is leading activities to address environmental issues by cutting down its CO2 emissions and drainage water, carrying out green production activities, and developing high added-value materials that are kind to people, society, and the Earth.
Our other environmental management activities consist of internal control through environmental audits, construction of an environmental management system based on ISO 14001, and promotion of zero emissions
