Unique Technologies
Development of Unique Technologies
The Textile Business Division leverages its unique technologies and
expertise in spinning, weaving, dyeing, and processing and develops innovative products and
services that did not previously exist using a people, society, and Earth perspective.
It is rolling out new technologies and concepts developed at its R&D center from core production plants
in Japan to plants in other parts of the world to create solutions for social issues.
R&D Center
Textile Innovation Center (TIC)
The TIC is an R&D center for the Textile Business that was established at Kurabo’s Anjo Plant in 2018.
An independent entity under the direct management of Kurabo’s Textile Business, the TIC brings together specialists in spinning, weaving, dyeing, and processing to conduct research and development for the next generation.
It develops innovative, never-before-seen products and services from the consumer’s point of view and develops novel production equipment as needed.
In addition to creating a new framework for global expansion, the TIC aims to achieve smart factories by using IoT to improve visualization and labor-saving measures in production processes and with research and development in factory automation.
Smart Factory Concept
- Plant that builds on Kurabo DNA Further advancement is achieved with verification and analysis by AI trained on a database of knowledge and skills
- Plant with connections Productivity is boosted by linking the plant to material suppliers as well as related companies and partner companies inside and outside Japan
- Plant with visibility Progress of existing orders and expected delivery dates of new orders can be checked on mobile devices
- Plant optimization Production processes are converted into information, and AI and other technologies are used to autonomously optimize assets, quality, and environmental protection
